Nope. I'm not retiring. I'm getting a fancy new blog. So if you are reading this post, you can now find my blog at www.daniellebryson.com/blog.

Blogger is a great service, but not so much for photographers. It was really washing out my photos and keeping them pretty small. So i've switched. And I hope you like the new blog. And I'm hoping it keeps me posting more frequently. I've improved, but have a long way to go until perfect.

Parker was the sweetest and tiniest baby I've seen in a while. She tried so hard to stay up and play with us, but we eventually got her to sleep. And so peaceful. Mom and I tried several different poses but in some cases she was just too small. But fit so perfect in Daddy's hands. Can't wait to watch this beautiful little girl grow! Sunday was the most perfect afternoon for a photoshoot. You could feel a little fall in the air. And Claire was ready to go explore. She had a busy weekend, but was a trooper as usual. And we had a ton of fun with balloons, lollipops and even walking along the train tracks.

Giving Back - 4th Quarter

For this quarter we are splitting the donation between two worth causes: Camp Joint Venture and Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Camp Joint-Venture is a two-day overnight summer camp for Georgia children between the ages of six to 18 who have been diagnosed with rheumatic disease (arthritis). I had the pleasure to be the photographer at the camp this year. These kids are amazing and inspirational.
The goal of camp is to provide the opportunity to participate in normal childhood activities in a summer camp setting, Camp Twin Lakes. The main focus is taken off the child’s medical needs, and placed instead on the psychosocial and developmental needs. Campers are offered the excitement and fun of traditional summer camp activities. They are also offered the unique advantage of being in an environment cared for by staff who are responsive to their special medical needs.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank is the oldest and largest hunger-relief organization in the Southeast and serves more than 800 nonprofit partner agencies. More Georgians than ever are turning to food banks for help in these tough economic times. And unfortunately, the demand is higher than the supply right now.
Partner agencies help the Food Bank provide hundreds of thousands of meals and groceries to low-income people in Metro Atlanta and throughout North Georgia. Currently the Food Bank serves over 800 nonprofit partner agencies. These nonprofit organizations range from churches, synagogues and mosques to child care centers and nursing homes. Each organization has access to the Food Bank's inventory, educational programs, technical assistance and materials.

On Wednesday I visited Mommy + Me at Atlantic Station for mini-portraits. I had such a good time meeting so many new friends and faces. It was a bit crazy as we only had a short time with each family, but a lot of fun.

Some time off

Last weekend was my husband and my 5-year wedding anniversary. I can't believe how quickly time has flown by. But I guess when you are married to your best friend it just feels right.
I took last weekend off so we could have some family time. But here is a quick picture of Ridge, our son, being silly. I got him one of those big sitting pillows and he loves to wallow on it with his blanket. I just adore this little boy!

Baby Braden

Only 10-days old. And we took the pictures just in time because he lost his belly button soon after.
He was such a sweet little boy. But he really wanted to stay up and watch the action. After about an hour we got him back to sleep and got some great pictures. Can't wait to watch him grow!

Labor Day

The Bryson family took Labor Day weekend off and headed to South Carolina to visit my parents and grandparents. We stayed for a few days at their lake house. It's out in the middle of nowhere, SC, which is exactly what we needed for a few days. Ridge had several firsts - I finally let him enjoy a lollipop, he went on his first boat ride and collected lots of rocks from the boat ramp. Wanted to share some photos, although he did not want to participate in any photoshoots. He too was on vacation.

Football

As you can see, we are very excited for football season in our house. So much in fact, Ridge now refuses to go to sleep at night as he wants to watch "BALL!" (screaming from his room). Ahhh... like mother like son.

Camp Joint Venture

Did you know arthritis is one of the most common chronic illnesses affecting children today? Recent data suggest that as many as 4 in 1000 children are dealing with arthritis on a daily basis.
Camp Joint Venture, held at Camp Twin Lakes (Rutledge, GA), is a two-day overnight summer camp for children between the ages of six to 18 who have been diagnosed with rheumatic disease (arthritis). The goal of camp is to provide children and adolescents with rheumatic disease the opportunity to participate in normal childhood activities in a summer camp setting.

Aiden turns 1

It is just amazing to watch the babies grow into little men and women. I first met Aiden when he was only 3 months old. Quiet, gentle, cuddly ...now he is running around chasing ducks and geese. 100% boy with no fear. And killer blue eyes. Happy Birthday buddy!!!

I truly love all babies, but Arthur holds a special place in my heart. He was so happy and excited the entire photoshoot. Not one fuss or sad face. And when it was over I got to hold him and he was so cuddly and sweet. I just wanted to scoop him up and take him home. Such a doll!

Times when you need your camera and, gulp, don't have it

Tonight my husband and I took our son out to dinner. He's 14-months old and LOVES spaghetti. But not just any type of spaghetti, it has to be from Bambinelli's in Northlake. He can polish off a plate. But, only about half makes it in his mouth ...the other half is in his bib, his hair, the floor, the highchair, between every finger, in his ears, on me, my face and arms. We look like we are going into battle with the protection and blessing of marinara sauce. A perfect picture and a photographer without a camera. I guess this one will have to remain a mental picture.

Not On Our Watch: Save Darfur

This next quarter's gift will be given to Not On Our Watch: The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond / Save Darfur.

I received the book Not On Our Watch by Don Cheadle and John Prendergast for Christmas (yes, I'm strange as it was on my list but everyone should read this book) and started reading it almost immediately. It made me so mad, angry, sad and yet thankful that there are people out there telling the story from the front lines. But the one passage that goes through my head over and over is that the Janjaweed rebels take the babies, the little helpless babies, from their mothers and throw them on a huge bonfire and let the mother watch as her baby burns and cries to her. It makes me tear up just to think about that scene ..happening today, right now, not years and years ago. We've got to make a difference. We have got to make a positive change and help these people. So this quarter's profits are going to Save Darfur (www.savedarfur.org).

For a little back ground:
Responding to a rebellion in 2003, the regime of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and its allied militia, known as the Janjaweed, launched a campaign of destruction against the civilian population of ethnic groups identified with the rebels. They wiped out entire villages, destroyed food and water supplies, stole livestock and systematically murdered, tortured and raped civilians. The Sudanese government's genocidal, scorched earth campaign has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives through direct violence, disease and starvation, and continues to destabilize the region. Millions have fled their homes and live in dangerous camps in Darfur, and hundreds of thousands are refugees in neighboring Chad. Violence continues today. Ultimately, the fate of the Darfuri people depends on establishing a lasting and just peace in all of Sudan and in the region.

Family Reunion

It's not everyday that you get to be part of a family reunion. This family has been living on opposite sides of the world for the last two years, but they are all back together again. I believe it is really important to give back and help make the world a better place for our children. I forget how small newborns are with their sweet little coos and entire body yawns. So precious! Sabrina definitely wanted to remain the princess in her pictures. No traditional naked baby or tight swaddle pictures and absolutely no diaper or onsie shots ...she wanted to remain in her beautiful lacy dress. Can't say that I blame her. She was such a cutie too. She wanted to stay up and watch "the paparazzi" at work. And it was great seeing her parents again. They are so much fun. Best to all!

Hunter and Harley

Quin and Annabell

The forecast was calling for rain all day on Saturday ...and it seems every day lately. But we were so blessed to have almost two hours of sunshine just when we needed it. Quin and Annabell were so sweet. I think they pulled out every toy in the garage to share with me. But the bubbles were the biggest hit of the day. Bubbles are just magical to children and make for lots of smiles.

Oh, and I have a new watermark for my pictures. Now I'm really feeling professional. :)

Also known as Ridge's girlfriend, Claire has been in Gymboree with my son since they were three months old. It was love at first sight.
Taking pictures of Claire was a blast. She makes you feel like you are the funniest person in the world because she absolutely cracks up when you act silly. Not just a smile, but a huge belly laugh with head thrown back.

Okay, I think he is the cutest, sweetest baby in the world ...but that is because he is mine. I love taking pictures of him, but to be honest, he is my toughest client. We had a fun afternoon playing with leaves, riding on tree trunks and sliding down hills, but once David spied the swings it was all over from there. The swings were his mecca. But we had a really good time playing together in the park ...and I think some great pictures.
